Transport accounts for more than one quarter of the world’s total energy use and one fifth of global energy-related carbon dioxide emissions. Increasing efficiency and fuel economy in the transport sector could make considerable progress in helping to reduce global emissions.

Shell’s Starship Initative aims to showcase some of the most cutting-edge fuel-efficent technologies, and help truck owners and operators to harness these benifits in their own businesses.

Starship has undertakenf record-breaking test runs in the US, hauling full cargo thousands of miles, and stopping to let visitors see the truck at automotive expos along the route.

Shadow created a series of interactive AR and VR apps for use at these motorshow events in the US and Europe. Helping visitors explore beneath the surface of the truck’s bullet-shaped outer skin, and understand the various fuel-efficent systems used in its record runs.

The 3rd generation version of the truck - Starship 3.0 launched in 2023, and Shadow continue to provide app and animation support for the project at events around the world.
